Of course, they are but reducing the amount of Plastic produced each year saves valuable energy and natural resources when an alternative is available. Ecostake yard signs are made of recycled fiberboard with a very thin plastic coating to make them weatherproof. By comparison the typical corrugated plastic yard sign uses approximately 1/2 pound of polypropylene per sign as opposed to Ecostakes 26 grams of poly. That’s over 17 times less plastic per sign! And we don’t stop there. We make our own wire steel stakes with no coating so they can be easily recycled or oxidized back into the earth in time.
We are always looking for a better solution to waterproof the fiberboard, but so far, no alternative method meets our standard of 6 months to a year readability in all climates.
Unfortunately, composting is not a good option because the coating will take too long to degrade to saturate the fiberboard without shredding. Check with your local recycler to see if they accept paper cups. This will get you your answer without getting too technical.
Yes, they are! Our heavy-duty stakes are thicker than the average stakes, and because they extend the full with of the sign, and not just in the middle of the sign, they twist less.
Because they are digitally printed, design your full color sign with pictures and text!
Because we use high speed proprietary equipment we can print on rolls, instead of single plastic rigid signs one by one.
